Alcohol based markers - my new experience

Imagine
Hello there, I really want to share with you my new experience in art and drawing practicing, hope you'll enjoy reading and the information will be useful for you! A week an a few days ago I ordered a pack of 80 alcohol based markers, previously I have watched lots of art clips on YouTube featuring artists that where using them.  It's one of my first experiences using this types of markers, I have a pack of ten markers like this at home in Romania, but I didn't really managed to figure out how to use them there - the time was short between buying them and my departure to the USA. Since I have them here in the US I have managed to enjoy using them, to practice mixing the colors and to lay them on the paper, this stuff is fun.  The brand that I have it's one less expensive - Caliart, you can see the link here . What to Look for in Alcohol-Based Markers Color brightness: The brightness of the colors, believe it or not, makes a difference wh...

The Handmaid's Tale - The graphic novel (English review)

Imagine
This is my first English Book Review, on this blog I usually publish book reviews and some different thoughts, that makes this space more than a book blog. It makes it personal, my space. I have published some articles in English before: about my Youth Exchange experiences in Europe and first thoughts about my move to Florida.  I wrote two years ago about The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, the review is in Romanian language, but now I have the opportunity to cover the subject in English language too.  The Handmaid's Tale is a dystopian novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, originally published in 1985. It is set in a near-future New England, in a totalitarian state resembling a theonomy that overthrows the United States government.  The novel focuses on the journey of the handmaid Offred. Her name derives from the possessive form "of Fred"; handmaids are forbidden to use their birth names and must use names derivative of those of the male, o...

New start, new place

Imagine
EN> (RO mai jos) Hello everybody, nice to be here again for a while.  Long time of no see. I am starting this post in English with Romanian below. It's my third week in Florida and I am still accommodating with this place, people and schedule. This new cultural experience is very interesting.  Here people are usually smiling when you make visual contact with them - thing that in Romania is unusual and seen as very strange sometimes.  Hi, how are you? it's one of the common phrases they'll tell you when meeting someone, even you don't know the person. It's polite to answer back, don't enter in detail, just say that you are good and ask the other persons about herself/himself. Despite of Romania, here the people are all around the continent, and also from other places outside, like I am. Three days ago I went out with some friends and we stopped at the Mendel Public Library in West Palm Beach. We needed to cross a bridge and...

Training Experience in Denmark - second part - Media literacy: Critical thinking in youth work

Imagine
This is the second article about my Training experience in Denmark, near Copenhagen. You can read the first one here . At the training project I have found awesome people from all around Europe, there were participants from 14 European countries.  The project days were structured very well, the time was always precious, so every moment was used to put our minds and ideas on work. We worked as teams, we worked individually as well through non-formal education methods. The accent was on team, because, we as individuals are a part o community. Part of our neighborhood, of our teams at job, part of our countries, and of course part of European Community.  We had group dynamics, games, workshops on different topics like: Media bias, Social representation definitions, Recognizing fallacies, Recognizing appeals on emotion, Text analysis workshop, Deconstructing images etc.  One of my favorite workshops was the one with visuals. We had images fro...

Training experience in Denmark - first part - On my way to the project

Imagine
I always wanted to try something new, to see some new things, to meet new people all around the world – or Europe at least. This wish is still in progress on me. This year I had other two kind of similar experiences. You can read the article about the one on Vilnius, Lithuania here .  So, I’ve started searching the Internet for a new Erasmus+ experience. Social media gave me one like that in Denmark, somewhere near Copenhagen.  My first questions were… is Denmark a very cold country? This what I have heard. I will be able to carry on enough warm clothes in my luggage?   Critical thinking? Am I aware on this topic? I have started my travelling plans, but some of them have changed suddenly near departure time. Oh no, what I am gonna do now??? So, I had to work fast, again. Depending on people? Yes, it’s troublesome – but I managed it somehow.  I packed sufficient things on a suitcase, a backpack and a plastic bag with some brown bears and wor...

Youth Exchange Experience - Smartphone or Compass in Lithuania (English)

Imagine
Labas! Hello! Salut! ¡Hola! Здравейте! In the beginning of July I was a part of  an awesome experience that took place in capital city of Lithuania, in Vilnius. During this time (from 1's of July to 8 of July) I had the chance to meet new people from four diffrent countries: Lithuania, Spain, Bulgaria and also Romania.  The experience was a great opportunity to come in touch with the other people's culture, to to identify myself as a part of my Romanian culture. I've also noticed that we as a group of young people are  similar to each other, even we came from diffrent parts of Europe.  Girls wearing traditional Lithuanian costumes As a group we have learned to function through different games, role-plays, brainstorming and also the big challenge was to go for camping together.  Lighting the fire, hiking and map orientation sounds to be easy in the comfort of our homes, but in the forest or in t...
